We invite everyone with an interest to join the development team
(even just as a tester). Anyone with skills, materials or facillities
that could contribute to further development are welcome to join
the movement.
Below are a few potential areas of future development:
Producion/Performance Tool
This
application will have both MIDI and inbuilt audio
capabilities. The functionality and design will be
tailored to the requirements of the professional techno
producer. Plugins could be available for new algorithms and
sounds that deal with specific genres. External MIDI controllers
could be used to aid performance.
Extensions
Additional extensions and the extended versions will contain
functionality that is initially too complex for the first time user.
These versions or plugins will be used by the serious computer musician,
looking for more control. In fact there is talk of converting LEMu
itself into a bank of plugins that can be used in any sequencer
program.
Hardware
To
create an integrated ergonomic instrument, a stand alone hardware
device may be constructed. This will enable more control and less
risk of computer malfunction. It would also be cool to have lots
of modules and devices that the audience can interact collaboratively
with LEMu through.
Sequencer/Synth function
The functions and algorithms used in
LEMu could be added to the infrastructure of an existing
techno synthesiser such as the Roland MC505 or Kurzweil
K2000. The increased pattern control functionality would enable
the techno artist to perform their music more effectively than the
currently available methods.
Console Game
A version of LEMu may be designed specifically for game consoles.
Using the ergonomic interface and powerful realtime audio capabilities
of the latest game consoles, a LEMu game could be the ultimate techno
instrument for serious live performance. It could also be used by
gamers interested in techno: to play with or to jam.
